Digital's Delta-Time Limit change for OpenVMS

Digital Equipment Corporation has determined that some OpenVMS components and software products are subject to problems because of a documented restriction in OpenVMS RTL Library (LIB$) time conversion routines. These routines limit delta-time arguments and return values to 9999 days. DIGITAL has removed the restriction in OpenVMS Version 7.1 and has released ECOs that remove the restriction and resolve the problems in earlier versions of OpenVMS.

B2Systems strongly recommends that our SmartStar® and Ideo™ customers install this ECO in order to continue problem-free use of our products.

FAQ:

Should my company apply this ECO for use with the SmartStar® or Ideo™ product?
Yes. Our products make use of some of the functions that DEC changed and therefore we recommend that you apply the DEC ECO.

Do we need a new version of SmartStar®/Ideo™ in order to comply with DEC's new ECO?
No. Your current version is fine. However, as always, we do recommend that you keep your system upgraded with the most current version of our products.

Do we need to re-install or re-link SmartStar®/Ideo™ after applying the DEC ECO?
No.

Are there any problems my company should be aware of concerning SmartStar®/Ideo™ running on OpenVMS with the new ECO?
No. B2Systems has installed Digital's Delta-Time ECO on our OpenVMS systems. We have not perceived any problem running either the SmartStar® or Ideo™ product, and we do not expect any of our customers to have any problems with our products after applying the Digital ECO.
